Welcome to our introductory blog for A-1 Tire & Battery in Edmonton and my very first EVER blog!
Did you know that we are an independently owned and family operated business? There aren’t very many of us independent tire/automotive stores left in Edmonton. Most independents have been swallowed up by the big box stores, franchises or, sadly, have had to close up shop. We are very proud of the fact that we can say we are an independent, family owned business and have been able to give quality service at competitive prices for almost 50 years!
A-1 Tire & Battery came into being way back in 1970. It was started by Reg Labrecque and as it grew, he invited his brothers Ron, Murray and Brad to join the company. A-1 Tire began in a small little shop on the North West side of Edmonton. From there we moved to the Southside on Calgary Trail and then we were able to purchase a piece of property with an existing repair shop on the corner of 99 Street and 77th Avenue in Edmonton where we remain today. Ron and Brad opened a Nisku division in the early years that was sold when Ron took his well-deserved retirement. The business has been passed down to Mark and Lance who are very proud of the legacy that their Father and Uncles have left them. Tires were our major source of business way back then but we have expanded our services and grown into the business we are today. I asked Mark and Lance what the most often asked questions are in a day and one of the most often asked is “How much air should I put in my tires?” I’ll talk about that one in my next blog.
